We form a good base from which to visit Glencoe and Fort William to the North, and The Isle of Seil with a slate museum and microbrewery to the South for day trips. Inveraray makes another good day's exploring with its Castle (the family seat of the Campbells) and Jail with Loch Fyne Seafoods nearby.
A very good day out can be spent at Inverawe Smokehouses where lessons in fishing can be procurred together with the chance to relax, browse and taste and purchase some smoked foods at the shop and have a cup of tea. Another great day out for the whole family can be found only a few miles north at the Sea Life Sanctuary.

There are many opportunities to try out sea-kayaking, fishing, both sea and lake, diving, horse-riding and mountain-biking locally.

Those of us interested in wildlife can enjoy a super boat trip to see whales, porpoises, dolphins and eagles with Sea-Life Adventures. There are also very interesting bird-watching days out on Mull with Wildlife & Birdwatch Safaris and Turus Mara
